Goovigen residents being evacuated as water levels rise

A FLOODING emergency alert has been issued for Goovigen.

The Banana Shire Council and the State Emergency Service (SES) has advised an unprecedented outflow for the Callide and Kroombit Dams will affect Goovigen.

Properties in the area are likely to experience flooding. Goovigen residents are asked to take action and move to the school. Other residents should relocate to higher ground.

For further information contact the Banana Shire Council on 49929500, listen to your local radio station or log on to www.disaster.qld.gov.au. For flood related assistance contact the SES on 132 500. Only call triple zero (000) if you or your property is in danger or if someone is injured.

The community will be notified when there is no longer a flooding threat.
