Government staffer charged for stealing $291,000

A QBuild supervisor is facing fraud charges after allegedly approving 289 false invoices over three years between mid-2009 and 2012.

Police believe the 49-year-old man attempted to charge renovations undertaken on his house to a work account.

After resigning from his QBuild position in August 2012, now called Building and Asset Services, he was today charged by the State Crime Command's Fraud and Cyber Crime Group.

He is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday afternoon.

Police confirmed investigations were ongoing with more charges expected.
