Gracemere has eye on Cap Challenge decider
CRICKET: With the countdown on to the Cap Challenge grand final, Gracemere captain Aaron Harmsworth knows how important the three remaining fixtures are to his side's bid for a berth in the competition decider.
"We're on top of the ladder at the moment on equal points with Frenchville. We've got to win at least two of the next three games to secure a grand final spot so every game is equally important from here on in,” he said.
Gracemere take on The Glen in Rockhampton today and Harmsworth (pictured) is wary of the opposition, despite them being out of finals contention.
"I wouldn't look at their place on the ladder as a true indication of their ability. They've got some quality players and when they get firing they have the ability to beat most teams in the competition,” he said.
"They've got a very aggressive batting unit so you can't afford to bowl any loose balls. We need to bowl well and take our chances.”
Gracemere will be without the services of strike bowler Ben Milne but Harmsworth has opted to bring in batsman Cameron Keene to complete his line-up.
In today's other Cap Challenge fixtures, Frenchville take on BITS and Cap-Coast Parkana meet Yaralla.
Milne will be back in the middle tomorrow, playing for Rockhampton in the A-grade cricket clash against Gladstone.
Rocky will also welcome back Joe McGahan, who was unavailable for the last rep match.
The Frenchville skipper will be a welcome addition, given he has been in red-hot form with both bat and ball.
