Gracemere trio bowls into the history books

FOR the first time in history, the Gracemere Bowls Club has walked away from the District Triples finals as victors.

The Gracemere team of Ron Wiggington, Nick Jones and Darran Steigler are the talk of the green this week after dominating the District Triples last Sunday.

In the final played at Emu Park Bowls Club, the Gracemere team posted a convincing win over Victoria Park to clinch their first triples crown in the competition's 24-year history.

To earn their spot in the final, Gracemere secured victories over Rockhampton and Yeppoon clubs while Victoria Park accounted for North Rockhampton with a last-end six-shot victory.

The Gracemere club's success could continue as they are also represented in the final of the District Pairs event which gets underway on Sunday.
