Grantham to rise from ruin

THE final complete masterplan for the flood-damaged town of Grantham has been released this morning by Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor Steve Jones.

The masterplan reveals details of the land-swap arrangement which gives eligible residents from Grantham, Murphys Creek, Postmans Ridge, Withcott and Helidon the option to move to higher ground.

The voluntary swap of land with Council represents an Australian first.

About 80 per cent of flood-affected Grantham residents are expected to take up the offer.

The masterplan features between $25-30 million worth of work, details to create a community centre in the Butter Factory and a Grantham village market place.
