Hall eyes FIFA fame
WHETHER it's holding a remote control or wearing a jersey on the field, Dylan Hall knows a thing or two about soccer.
And tonight he's aiming to kick some goals on the screen as a participant in the FIFA Interactive World Cup Live Qualifying Event for 2012 at EB Games, Stockland Rockhampton.
The 12-year-old Emmaus College student said he was excited and nervous about playing tonight, but being the youngest in the country to participate didn't seem to faze him.
"I've got nothing to lose. I think I might have a chance though," Dylan said yesterday.
"I've got all the games from 2004 to 2012 and I've played soccer for eight years."
Australia is one of 11 countries to host the live tournaments, with pre-qualifying events being staged at EB Games stores all over the country tonight from 6, with only two places in Queensland, including Rockhampton.
The winner from each of the pre-qualifiers will be flown to Sydney on April 4 for the final to determine Australia's best player.
The player who wins the FIWC Australian Qualifying Event will be invited to compete at the international grand final later in the year, for their chance to win $20,000 and the FIWC trophy at the annual FIFA Players Gala alongside such luminaries as David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Ricardo Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, and many more.
