LACHLAN Hartley broke through to score his maiden century as Frenchville claimed its first win of the 2014-15 season, but big brother Brent still holds the bragging rights in the Hartley household.

The Hartley brothers opened the batting together for Frenchville on Saturday afternoon as the Falcons claimed a 38-run win over a resurgent Capricorn Coast at Yeppoon Showgrounds in the opening round of the Capricornia Club Challenge.

Lachlan, 19, scored his first century in the Frenchville Sports Club A-grade premiership competition in Frenchville's 6-192 before he was dismissed for 111 (125 balls).

Older brother Brent, 21, scored 113 - his first A-grade hundred - last season in Frenchville's 7-330 against Capricorn Coast in March.

"He looked pretty good the whole time," Brent said of Lachlan.

"I've still got him covered. I was scoring (with mum Vicki) and I was like 'he's getting close' but then he popped a ball up and was out just short of my score."

Lachlan and Brent had Frenchville off to a steady start, combining to put on 53 before young paceman Brad Dunsby broke their partnership.

After a quickfire 19 from Matthew Oates, Dunsby strode to the crease and put on a 54-run partnership with Daniel Stubbs (33) before he was dismissed for 22.

The A-grade club premiership takes a break next weekend as the region's top cricketers host Mackay in a 100-over match in Round 1 of the North Queensland championships.
