Hastings Deering slashes 100 jobs across Central Queensland
ONE HUNDRED Central Queensland jobs will be lost as Hastings Deering downsizes its mining support division in Queensland.
About half of the CQ job losses were believed to be in Blackwater.
A spokesman for the company said it would aim to redeploy impacted employees.
"Hastings Deering has completed a review of its Queensland operations and has commenced employee consultation to determine the right course of action to achieve operational efficiencies," he said.
"As part of this review, we are making changes to our mining support division which will see a reduction in roles across our Central Queensland operations.
"We have been working closely with impacted employees to identify potential redeployment opportunities and assist with their transition.
"The decision to reduce workforce numbers has not been taken lightly and we acknowledge the impact that these changes have on employees, their families and the communities in which they live."
