ADMISSIONS to Central Queensland's public hospital have soared over the Christmas period with the number of patients presenting to the emergency department spiking to 25% above average.

Rockhampton figures, released later today, are expected to be similar to Mackay Hospital's results where 450 people presented at the hospital's Emergency Department.
