Heche ‘fired’ for refusing Weinstein sex act

ANNE Heche has joined the long list of women accusing Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct, claiming she was once fired from a Miramax movie for refusing to perform oral sex on him.

The disgraced co-founder of Miramax and The Weinstein Company was effectively kicked out of Hollywood last year after The New York Times and The New Yorker published damning allegations from dozens of women, spanning decades in Hollywood.

In an interview on the Allegedly podcast this week, Heche, 48, was asked why victims hadn't spoken up sooner.

"First of all, you were threatened the second you walk out the door. I personally did not suck Harvey's d**k, although he showed it to me and I got out of the room before there was any physical contact," she responded.

"The fact is, I was fired from a job I had been hired for in Miramax. The repercussions of standing up for yourself were as deep and targeted as some of the scars of the women who actually got more physically unfortunately involved."

Throughout Heche's career, she's worked with Weinstein's former company Miramax three times, in films including Prozac Nation in 2001. She didn't specify which project she was fired from.

Describing Weinstein, the Six Days, Seven Nights actress declared there was "no bigger monster in Hollywood" and that he'd preyed on young women when they were at their most vulnerable.

"You're talking about girls ... A lot of us come from hurt backgrounds. What happens when you come from a broken place, you don't have any guidance, you don't have support, a parent you can go to? And you certainly don't want to go to Harvey's partner and say this happened. You come to LA, you're alone, you don't have friends that you are being able to talk to and that's what he takes advantage of, that isolated, vulnerable girl," Heche said.

"That's why every one of us was 19, 20, 21 or 22. He didn't go after the 40-year-old woman. He hits on me when I'm 19, 20, 21, 22, vulnerable, scared, frightened."

Heche added that a horrifying experience from her childhood had helped her defend herself.

"If I wasn't sexually abused as a child, I don't know if I would have had the strength to stand up to Harvey and many others."
