Head stomper found guilty - in 25 minutes

IT took only 25 minutes for the jury in Dean Roderick Marks's trial to find him guilty yesterday of two charges relating to the brutal bashing of Kevin David Weeding.

Marks, 27, pleaded not guilty in the four-day trial in the Rockhampton District Court to entering a dwelling with intent to commit a crime and intentionally committing grievous bodily harm.

Mr Weeding received a brain injury, broken jaw in two places, broken teeth and bruising to his head, face and neck after Marks attacked him on April 11, 2009.

Crown prosecutor David Morters said Marks stomped or jumped on Mr Weeding while he was lying on a pillow on a cement floor.

Mr Weeding spent several months in hospital, including at the brain injury rehabilitation clinic in the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Brisbane.

Judge Walter Tutt adjourned sentencing Marks until Wednesday, September 7.
