Heavy traffic expected around Rockhampton showgrounds today

IF you're not headed to the handmade expo or monster trucks at the Rockhampton Showgrounds today, police are urging you avoid driving in the area

Senior Sergeant Mel Adams said that both events are being held at the showgrounds which means traffic in the area will be heavy.

"The Hand Made Expo runs between 9am and 2pm at which time council staff and organisers will clear the grounds of all display holders and visitors in preparation for the monster truck show to open gates at 4.30pm," Snr Sgt Adams said.

"We anticipate heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic between 2pm and 5pm initially when people are cleared from the expo and others arrive for the Truck show at then at the conclusion of the monster truck show at 8.30pm.

"Police will be patrolling the area and ask motorists and pedestrians alike to be cautious and patient when travelling in the area."

Parking for the Monster Truck event is available in the adjacent Rockhampton High School grounds from Saturday afternoon.
