All eyes on the horizon for the next cyclone forming at sea

CLOSELY MONITORED: Three tropical lows are lining up.

WEATHER battered Central Queenslanders are eyeing off a "tropical disturbance" 550 nautical miles north-west of New Caledonia.

Central Queensland weather forecaster Mike Griffin last night said there was a good chance that disturbance, or run-off from Cyclone Edna, could reform and head back this way.

The weather bureau said it was continuing to monitor the ex-cyclone that brought rain to Central Queensland over the weekend.

Cyclone Edna hovered off Central Queensland on Saturday, just a day after Cyclone Dylan crossed the north Queensland coast.

Edna moved north and weakened.

Bureau spokesman Brendan Bradford said the system was likely to initially move away from Queensland, before edging closer.

"So there is a chance that it moves as a category one or even decreases below category one strength as it goes further south, but moves a little bit closer as we get into the weekend or early next week as a weak tropical low."
