Baby airlifted after he stopped breathing in sleep

UPDATE: A baby boy has been airlifted to hospital after he stopped breathing at a Sunshine Coast home. 

Paramedics rushed to the Kin Kin property after reports the baby was not breathing at 1.39pm. 

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said it appeared the baby's airway had become blocked while he was sleeping. 

The baby is in a stable condition, paramedics reported.

The ambulance crew took the boy to a Lifeflight rescue helicopter, which then flew him to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital about 3.30pm.

EARLIER: Paramedics are preparing to airlift a baby from the Sunshine Coast.

Ambulance officers responded to an emergency call at 1.39pm, alerting ambulance officers that a male baby was not breathing at a home on Sister Tree Creek Rd in Kin Kin.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the baby got his head caught in something in the home.

An emergency helicopter is preparing to land in Kin Kin.
