Help solve a five-year-old GoPro mystery

A GOPRO containing photos and videos dating back to 2012 has been found washed up in the surf by a Brisbane family on holidays.

Cara Ryan's two young children, Caden, 4, and Aria, 2, picked up the destroyed item on a morning walk along the beach.

As one could imagine, "What's this Mummy?" questions were demanded by the youngsters.

While the GoPro itself was in a case, the years at sea had deteriorated it massively.

It wasn't until the Ryans were back home in Brisbane did she discover the SD card lodged in the back.

"It was just washed up on Goat Island across from Cotton Tree," Mrs Ryan said, a week after her holiday at Maroochydore.

"We have looked at the SD card and it has a few photos and videos of a lady surfing. They're all from 2012.

"Judging by the photos it could have been lost at Alex Heads, I'm not too sure. But it somehow made its way to where we were.

"Its case was all mouldy and pretty gross. It was in poor condition, really deteriorated by the ocean."
