High chance of showers, storms for region

CAPRICORNIA could be in for the wet spell it has been longing for in the past two weeks.

There is a high chance of showers, and some storms, across the region today and possibly tomorrow.

After a lengthy spell of dry, hot and humid conditions, the region is expected to drop to cooler temperatures around 24 degrees today.

The overnight low is expected to drop to about 17 degrees.

A coastal trough should shift north towards the Capricornia Coast today.

It will combine with an upper-level trough to bring showers and some storms through Capricornia.

Some heavy falls are possible.

The tropics will remain fine apart from the slight chance of showers near the far north coast.

Things should clear up by Wednesday with mostly fine conditions.
