High profile CQ businessman says economy is on the way up

A ROCKHAMPTON businessman says the "worst is behind us."

High profile Tourism and Hospitality Industry Leader Grant Cassidy, who's business owns The Empire and The Edge Apartment Hotelssaid things are certainly on the improve.

"In our businesses we noticed a turnaround in the middle of last year," he said, "with some very positive signs we are past the tougher period ."

"We are seeing some positive signs

with solid enquiry for both conference and accommodation enquires and the amount of tenders we are doing for larger group bookings is up on last year."

 

"We are currently putting more staff on, certainly gearing up for a busier 2018, alot busier than what 2017 was and certainly 2016 was, it's been a tough couple of years."

The Cassidy Group has been in the Rockhampton accommodation industry since 2002.

"The latter part of 2016 and early into 2017 was probably the tough times we had seen," Mr Cassidy said.

Whether you are very small family business or a single sole trader, Mr Cassidy advised to be involved with organisatons that are driving the promotion of the Rockhampton area.

"Be engaged in the Chamber of Commerce, Advance Rockhampton and Capricorn Enterprise and be aware of where the growth opportunities are, be nimble and flexible to get your business in front of those people who have those opportunities" he said.

"I think there is some exciting times ahead for Rockhampton., I am not in the one bit influenced by negativity."
