Strong winds from ex-cyclone Tim heading moving towards CQ

AT 4pm yesterday, former Cyclone Tim was located 485km northeast of Mackay and 790km southeast of Cairns.

The ex-cyclone was moving south-southwest at about 10kmh, and expected to take on a westerly track overnight.

A strong high moving eastwards over Victoria is pushing a SE wind surge over the south Queensland coast.

The interaction of the SE surge and ex-cyclone Tim will result in strong to gale-force winds along parts of the central and tropical coast today.

A coastal wind warning has been issued.

Rain is expected on the Central Coast, Herbert and Burdekin and North Tropical Coast districts from Tuesday onwards.
