Burnett Hwy stays closed as works continue after landslide

DURING the Australia Day floods there were 35 land slips along the Burnett Hwy at Mount Morgan, and the road has been closed since.

A Transport and Main Roads spokesperson said while work was well under way and some of the slips which occurred above the highway had been cleared, access remained difficult and dangerous.

The spokesperson said one of the major landslide locations had been repaired, and five crews were working along the length of the range.

"Initially, it was expected the rebuilding task would take at least six months," the spokesperson said.

"We remain on track to have the range reopened to traffic by early August 2013, weather permitting."
