WHETHER you love golf or not, there's no better reason to hit the green and have a putt than to help disadvantaged and disabled children.
Every year in June, the Variety bash team Simpsons Car 1111 hosts a charity golf day for hits and giggles.
Now in its fifth year, the charity fundraiser has grown into one of the biggest days on the local golfing calendar.
This year's event is being held this Friday, June 5, and organiser Greg Wilson said it should be a great, fun-filled day that would go a long way to helping disadvantaged children.
"We've been at it for a while now and it's one of the best days of the year for us besides the bash run," Greg said.
"In the past we've ended up with over 100 players all there for a great day - and between regos, tee-offs, drink-runs, putting on a feed and that mob all together getting jovially competitive, it makes for a great time."
Called the Simpsons team because of their stretch VW bash car covered in Simpsons stickers, the team spend the day dressed up in their Simpsons bash costumes, having fun and passing on the good vibes.
"We aren't shy about what we do. We do it for the kids and if that isn't the best reason you could think of, then I don't know what is," Greg said.
"We dress as the Simpsons and flash the car up with all the Simpsons family because we know that's what kids love.
"The show's been running for over 20 years and we now have adults with their kids checking out what we do and making the connection.
"So many kids and their families need the help that Variety the children's charity gives them and it's a real boost for us to be a part of that," he said.
"Over our time doing the bash we've raised around $150,000."
