Hooded thieves get away

AS two hooded males were breaking into a car in North Rockhampton, they were startled by the owner, which culminated in a dog squad chase through bushland.

Yesterday morning at 12.50, police were called to the Buckle St area of Park Avenue after the two adult males were seen entering and stealing items from the vehicle.

Detective Sergeant Steve Paskin said the thieves then fled on foot and police patrols and a dog squad were sent out to search the street and surrounding area.

The search continued 800m into Park Avenue bushland after the dog lost the scent in the vicinity of the JM Kelly building.

One of the culprits was reported to have been wearing a black hoodie and the other a red one.

The incident follows many recent break-ins in the suburbs of Norman Gardens and Park Avenue.
