'Hoodie' holdup at Rocky Caltex

WITH a hoodie pulled over the top of his head and what appears to be a scarf covering his face, the bandit moves into the North Rockhampton service station.

Armed with a knife, he demands cash from the console operator working the late shift.

The operator refuses to hand over any money.

Empty-handed the bandit flees.

It’s the second time in the past month a service station employee has thwarted an armed would-be thief.

Yesterday’s incident happened about 2am at the Caltex Truckstop Service Station on Yaamba Rd.

Police arrived shortly afterwards and searched the nearby area using the dog squad.

Detective Senior Sergeant of Rockhampton CIB Darrin Shadlow said it was possible a customer was in the store at the time of the attack.

The incident follows an armed robbery late last month at another Caltex Station on Yaamba Rd where an operator locked the alleged thief inside the store.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about yesterday’s attempted armed robbery to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Hold-ups

An attempted armed hold-up early yesterday at the Caltex station on Yaamba Rd.

The Caltex station, also on Yaamba Rd but opposite Emmaus College, was allegedly held up on Tuesday, June 21.

The Caltex service station on the corner of George and William Sts held up in April by man who threatened the attendant with a knife.
