Horse put down after car crash

BREAKING 12pm: A HORSE had to be put down after it was hit by a car on Dawson Road at Glenlee about 11 this morning.

RSPCA regional inspector Laurie Stageman said he was called out to the scene by police who noticed the horse appeared to have injured its leg.

Upon discovering that the leg was broken, the decision was made to put the horse down to end its suffering.

It is believed the horse somehow escaped from its paddock and wandered onto the road where it was hit by the vehicle.

“It’s just a really unfortunate thing,” Mr Stageman said.

Early reports suggest no people were injured in the incident.
