Hot action stirs the sand, surf at Emu Park on the weekend

EMU Park Surf Lifesaving pair Jacob Spark and Ethan Murphy sizzled in the sand yesterday as the club hosted its 2015 club championships.

Regular combatants over the years, the under-14 boys' nippers were at it again, as they joined the club's U6 to U14 boys and girls competitors at Emu Park beach.

Spark took the nod as the pair's rivalry provided great entertainment while the two boys and their fellow U14 competitors took part in the full gamut of ironman, swim, sprint, board and flag races.

Braving the flat, but steamy summer conditions, Emu Park SLSC competitors pushed their claims for points, which go toward the club's age championship trophies.

Emma Doherty won the 9-10 combined girls' ironman trophy, finishing ahead of second-placed Maddy Barclay, while Tom Smith edged out Todd Williams to win the boys' ironman race.

See our two-page Junior Sport spread in The Morning Bulletin on Wednesday for more of yesterday's surf action.
