Hot and tough but inaugural Aus Day Mash Up a super concept

AUS Day Mashup organiser Naseeb Jeha pulled up a little worse for wear yesterday after an exhaustive few days organising the inaugural event.

But the CrossFit Rockhampton owner wasn't complaining.

Instead, Jeha hailed the competition a success after it featured more than 80 competitors across 22 teams.

Competitors from Mackay, Bundaberg and Gladstone travelled to the event at The Cathedral College on Saturday to take part in three different workouts - or WODs as they're known - across the day. Each workout featured a variety of exercises, which ranged from burpees to rowing; running to chin-ups and thrusters double-unders.

There are four videos to watch, with an advertisement in between each.

While conditions were hot, Jeha said the event could not have gone better.

"It was really good. I pulled up a little bit tired, as expected after a few big days," said Jeha, who helped competitors keep cool by setting up an ice bath and providing a midday break.

"We had a few hiccups in the lead-up but it all came together perfectly on the day. It was a really good bonding experience for all the teams involved. Everybody put in, whether they were counting reps or helping pack up at the end of the day. The CrossFit family is well and truly alive in CQ."

His wife Emma was the ultimate competitor by completing six workouts - twice that of her competitors - on the day. With an odd set of competitors, Emma stepped in to fill the void.
