UPDATE 1.10pm: Firefighters have extinguished an advertising sign after it caught fire on top of the Railway Hotel at Calliope.

 

UPDATE 1pm: Patrons have been evacuated from a Calliope hotel after reports that its roof is on fire.

Further reports from the scene say an electrical sign on top of the hotel is "fully involved''.

 

BREAKING 12.50pm: Emergency services are responding to a report of a hotel on fire at Calliope.

Initial reports suggest patrons are hosing down the roof of the building. Flames are visible.
