Hotel on fire

UPDATE 3.20pm: Multiple fire crews remain on scene at a hotel fire on Mcintyre Street, Calen.

Firefighters were called to The Calen Hotel around 9.50am and evacuated the building.

The hotel and its attached residence were well involved with fire on arrival.

Firefighters worked to protect neighbouring buildings and brought the fire under control around 11.15am.

Firefighters are continuing to monitor the situation and dampen down the scene.

The building sustained a significant amount of damage as a result of the blaze.

There have been no injuries reported.
 

BREAKING 10.30am: Fire crews are attending to a hotel on fire in Calen, north of Mackay.

Three quarters of The Calen Hotel is on fire and at least one home is involved.

Crews are evacuating the building and surrounding areas.

No further information is known at this time.
