Hour wait for help after fall from horse

A MIDDLE-AGED woman has been injured after falling from her horse on a remote property north of Rockhampton.

The RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter left its Mackay base at 1.15pm for the hour-and-a-half journey to the property 110km west of Clermont to retrieve the woman, who is aged in her 50s.

A spokesperson for the recue team said it would have taken an ambulance 2½ hours to reach the property.

The helicopter will fly directly to the property and then back to Mackay Hospital after diverting through Clermont to refuel.
