House burns to the ground north of Yaamba

UPDATE: WHAT started as a routine work day on the family cattle property north of Yaamba ended in disaster on Friday.

A family member returned home on dusk to find his highset Queenslander burnt to the ground.

When firefighters arrived on scene, there was little left of the structure; the roof was lying on the ground.

While the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, it is not being treated as suspicious.

SATURDAY: FIRE crews are still on the scene of a house fire north of Yaamba this evening.

The home owner was uninjured in the blaze.
