House fire erupts with bang and engulfs building on Saturday
A LOUD bang, something like a gun or fireworks, rang out before sirens echoed through Moura.
That is what one resident heard on Saturday night before she looked out her window to see fire engulfing a house on the Dawson Hwy.
"It was really scary," the eye witness said yesterday. "I am so glad that no one was hurt.
"It was a massive fire. I have never seen anything like it before in my life.
"At one stage, it was burning twice as big as you see in the photos.
"It was that big a fire that you'd think nothing would be saved."
Four units responded to the fire in the high-blocked house at 10.20pm.
Two people who were at the residence at the time were not injured.
The eye witness praised the efforts of the emergency services.
"The police and firies were on the scene very fast," she said.
"The firies had hoses on the front and back of the building and had the fire under control very, very quickly."
The cause of the fire was still being investigated but a police media spokesperson said there were no suspicious circumstances.
