1.40pm: A BUSHFIRE in Mount Morgan is now a grass fire and is contained.

The  Queensland Fire and Emergency Services issued an update at 1pm, saying multiple QFES and Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) crews remain on scene at a grass fire burning along the Burnett Highway, Leydens Hill (Mount Morgan). 

The fire is contained and currently poses no threat to properties.

Crews will monitor the scene over the next few days.

Residents are urged to be aware of emergency services personnel operating in the area.

7.15am: FIREFIGHTERS were conducting backburning operations early this morning along the Burnett Highway, Leydens Hill area.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services issued an update at 4am saying multiple QFES and Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) crews are conducting backburning operations in a southerly direction along the Burnett Highway, Leydens Hill (Mount Morgan).

The fire currently poses no threat to properties. 

SES volunteers are controlling traffic on the Burnett Highway and local roads. Residents are urged to be aware of emergency services personnel operating in the area.

Residents may be affected by a large smoke haze and are advised to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by.

Motorists travelling in the area are urged to drive with caution and to conditions.

8.30pm: Firefighters have put out the house fire at Leydens Hill and are damping down hot spots.

 Details of damage were not available.

  8pm: Firefighters are at the scene of a house fire in the Leydens Hill area off the Burnett Hwy, south of Rockhampton.

The resident was not at home at the time of the blaze near Mt Morgan.

Firefighters have entered the dwelling.

Backup crews are on the way.

 Firefighters are conducting backburning operations between the Burnett Highway and Poison Creek Road. Razorback Road is closed except for local traffic.
