HSV Gen-F MY15 range gets more power and options

HOLDEN Special Vehicles is adding more poke to its R8 range.

The HSV Gen-F line-up is about to get extra power along with other enhancements as part of an upgrade.

Big news comes via the R8 models, which now generate 340kW and 570Nm (ClubSport R8, ClubSport R8 Tourer and Maloo R8).

Power also increases on both the ClubSport and Maloo models, to 325kW (the same power output as the previous E Series 3 GTS), thanks largely to a Hi-flow exhaust system with x-pipe intermediate, while the standardisation of a Bi-Modal muffler (a new electric system will now be fitted to all HSV models with the exception of Grange) delivers an even throatier engine note.

Steering wheel mounted paddle shifters have also been added to the automatic models.

From a styling perspective, the GTS will feature a new, distinctive "Dark Stainless" finish on its 20-inch Blade forged alloys while the 20-inch alloys on the volume-selling R8 models will be finished with striking "Tornado Grey" accents.

Two new colours - "Some Like It Hot", a rich bronze/red, and "Jungle Green", an iridescent olive green, will be introduced to the range, replacing Karma and Fantale.

Personalisation options have been advanced with a new himounted "Hyperflow" Performance Rear Spoiler to be available on ClubSport, ClubSport R8 and GTS, while a "Pitch Black Style" option will be available on the three
R8 models, featuring black accenting on the fender vents and mirror scalps together with the lo-line spoiler (ClubSport R8) and the tailgate applique' (ClubSport R8 Tourer).

"It's fair to say that the market acceptance of the Gen-F range since its launch last year has exceeded all our expectations", said HSV managing director Tim Jackson.

"We're confident the enhancements we're making to power, styling and vehicle personalisation will further embed HSV as the first choice for performance vehicle enthusiasts."
