Hundreds farewell Jim McRae

THE pews were packed at St Joseph’s Cathedral this morning, where hundreds of Jim McRae’s family, friends, political allies and foes and former colleagues gathered to say a final farewell.

Rockhampton MP Robert Schwarten, Mayor Brad Carter, and  existing and former councillors were joined by business leaders and close friends at the funeral mass for the former Rockhampton mayor.

The majority of the service was conducted by Fr John Grace, with whom Jim had enjoyed a lasting friendship.

Jim passed away last week after a battle with cancer.
