Hurrell admits he's 'eaten a bit too much food'
THE heat is on Konrad Hurrell at the Gold Coast Titans.
And the 25-year-old is welcoming it.
This time last year Hurrell was beginning pre-season training with the Warriors in Auckland, where the average November temperature is 16 degrees.
Fast forward 12 months and he is preparing for the 2017 season with the Titans at Parkwood, where the mercury has been nudging 30 degrees.
"It's just so hot,” said Hurrell, who crossed to the Titans in May. "I've never had a pre-season away from Auckland.”
But the Tongan-born centre, who debuted with the Warriors in 2012, said he believes the heat will benefit him as he enters the crossroads of his career.
"This kind of weather will get you a little bit fitter when it comes to game time,” Hurrell said.
"Breathing-wise as well - it's very hard to breathe when it's very hot.
"When it comes to the last 10 minutes of a game, this kind of heavy breathing will get me through the game. It will be good.”
Hurrell admits he has "probably eaten a bit too much food” in the past and failed to live up to his potential.
"I'm at the age now where I need to start focusing on footy and play the best footy I could,” Hurrell said.
