Iconic Rockhampton Zoo animal passes away

ICONIC Rockhampton Zoo animal Thomas, the water buffalo, has died.
Thomas' death was confirmed in a post by zoo staff on the Rockhampton Zoo Facebook page.
"
It is with great sadness we say farewell to a Rockhampton Zoo icon - Thomas, the water buffalo," the post read.
"Thomas passed away of age related natural causes. Up until his passing Thomas was in excellent health. He did not suffer.
"Though we don't know his exact age, he was approaching 40years old, which is a ripe old age indeed for a buffalo.
"He was a magnificent buffalo with a great character who will be remembered by all of us."
