Identity of farmer critically injured in cow attack revealed

The Goomeri community has rallied around local farmer Don Louis after he was critically injured in a cow attack on his property on Tuesday morning.

Mr Louis, aged in his 60s, was working with cattle on his farm when he was attacked by a heifer on Tuesday and had to be airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Paramedics initially treated the man for critical upper body injuries, before the Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter arrived.

Princess Alexandra Hospital confirmed on Wednesday morning that he remains in Intensive Care in a critical but stable condition.

One local woman sent her "thoughts and prayers" out to Mr Louis, in the form of a Facebook post on a community page.

"We send Don and Gail all our thoughts and prayers with lots of hugs and love, we are with you," she said in the post.

"The whole town is thinking of you Don, Gail and family.

"Get well soon."

The post was then flooded with similar comments from Goomeri residents, wishing the farmer a speedy recovery.

"So sad to hear this news. Stay strong Donny, our hopes and prayers are with you. Great bloke and great Simmental cattle. Part of the cattle game, good mothers protect their baby calves, very unfortunate accident," one person said.

"Thinking of you Don and family. We have brought a few bulls through you now and they are top quality. Praying for a speedy recovery," another said.
