Impatience and stupidity on our roads can cost lives
What is wrong with some of our drivers on the roads today? It was only a couple of days ago when a truck was captured overtaking a vehicle on double white lines and now a video is released of a car overtaking on double lines, on the Razorback Rd. Double lines warn motorists that it is unsafe to overtake, yet some motorists take the risk. If you keep taking the risk, your luck will eventually run out.
Too many innocent families have been wiped out, because of the impatience and stupidity. One of the major causes for road fatalities has been identified as breaking road rules and overtaking on double lines falls into that category. If caught, you will get $198 fine and three demerit points.
I believe police should be using more unmarked vehicles to catch dangerous drivers. This behaviour needs to be addressed quickly before the road toll exceeds last year's figure. The road toll for 2012 was 279, 10 more than the previous year in Queensland, and 30 have died on our roads this year so far.
