Interest soars for villa living, prompts new project
A NEW development at the rear of the botanic gardens will see 14 colonial villas built as part of Rockhampton's newest gated community.
The Garden Villas will be built in Ann St following the success of the recently built Savon Villas on Upper Dawson Rd.
Pat O'Driscoll Project marketer Leanne Fenech said there was an obvious high demand for these types of residential developments.
"Our Savon villas were so successful at the beginning of the year we decided to do it again," she said.
"The Savon Villas were sold off the plan within weeks of the construction finishing in May and we've received great feedback from the residents. The 14 villas on Ann St were approved by council last week and will officially go on the market this Saturday.
"There's a high demand of people who want to downsize their homes for a more tight-knit living area that's private and secure, so this development ticks a lot of boxes. We feel there's a niche in that market for these gated communities, especially on south side and these villas are in such an amazing location, close to the botanic gardens, hospitals, airport, we were so excited to secure the spot.
"We're using the same builder, ASM builders, and property developer, Kele Property Group, so we've got a great team from last time."
The development consists of two types of apartments, a 120sq m two-bedroom villa from $349,000 and 146sq m three-bedroom villas from $399,000.
Kele Property Group's John Kele said the construction of Garden Villas was expected to start at the end of the year.
"We've only just got development approval so we're looking at the end of the year or early next year to start the construction phase," he said.
"The construction of Savon took about 12 months so we're expecting the same again this time. We've gone for a bit of a different look this time as we wanted to keep that colonial and heritage theme of The Range.
"The great thing about these villas is that they can be customised to suit the buyer's needs.
"We need to have exciting developments like these in all areas of south side, not just the river bank."
