iPHONE 7 Plus' most anticipated photo feature has been released in beta form by Apple.

The new iOS 10.1 update brings Portrait mode to iPhone 7 Plus.

The iPhone 7 Plus already features a dual camera system which allows you to take both wide angle and zoom shots.

It has an optical zoom of two times and a digital zoom of up to 10 times.

Now, with the update, you can access Portrait mode from within the Camera app, in between Photo and Square modes.

This feature uses a depth-of-field effect to keep your subjects sharp while creating a beautifully blurred background.

The technology behind the feature, normally only found on DSLR cameras, is driven by the two 12-megapixel cameras on iPhone 7 Plus and advanced machine learning.

Apple says as the camera takes more and more photos, it learns what exactly should be in the background blur.

Portrait mode applies a depth-of-field effect to make your foreground subject sharp while creating the blurred background.

The blurred effect is known as "bokeh".

Apple's camera - the most popular in the world, now feature better stabilisation, a larger ƒ/1.8 aperture and a new 6-element lens enabling brighter, more detailed photos and videos.

The wide color capture allows for more vibrant colors with more detail.

Apple says portrait mode is currently in beta and customers can expect enhancements in future iOS updates.
