A QUEENSLAND Australian rules player has been banned from the sport for 20 years after kicking another player in the head during a game at the weekend.

The Ipswich Eagles Division 3 player was sent from the field during the senior semi-final clash against Redcliffe Tigers, at Limestone Park at Ipswich on Saturday, Quest Newspapers reports.

Redcliffe Tigers vice president Steve Brown said the injured player, aged 19, was still recovering from the incident, in which he was concussed.

Brown said the incident "was completely out of the blue".
