Jailed for rape

A MAN who repeatedly raped a teenager in her bed has failed in a bid to have his conviction overturned.

Steven John McCann, 25, of Moura, was found guilty in the Rockhampton District Court in February of raping an 18-year-old woman four times in March 2006.

During the original trial, the court was told McCann followed the woman to her home in Moura, in central Queensland, and assaulted her as she lay in her bed.

The court was told McCann initially denied having sex with the woman but later told police it was consensual.

The court was told he lied because he was concerned his girlfriend would find out he had cheated on her.

McCann was sentenced to seven years jail for the attack. Earlier this month he took his case to the Court of Appeal.
