Jane lends a lens at Beef
JANE Stephens hangs up her nurse's uniform and takes up her camera to unwind after a four-shift week.
The enrolled nurse has taken photography a lot more seriously over the past two months
Jane, of Mount Morgan, got her first big break in photography as the official photographer of the Man on the Snowy River production at Beef Australia 2012 last week.
Show producer Mark Eady called Jane on Monday afternoon last week to ask her if she could be at the showground that night.
"I was excited but I was chewing my lip when he asked me to be the official photographer," she said.
Jane gave her new hobby a shot when she discovered her love for horse photography.
"We had Clydesdale horses and I just started taking photos of them," she said.
"At the time I wasn't serious about photography but then I shot a couple of weddings and other things.
"My brother Gavin, who lives in Brisbane, is a professional photographer so I called him before the production to ask him if I had the camera on the right settings."
Her photographs of the event featured in The Bulletin.
Jane said she would not take up the profession full time but would be available for public events.
Jane Stephens bred Clydesdale horses and that is where her love for photography began.
She is an enrolled general nurse at Mt Morgan Hospital.
Her brother, Gavin Stephens, is a professional photographer based in Brisbane.
