BRISBANE champion Jeff Horn has a verbal agreement to defend his WBO world middleweight title against undefeated American Terence Crawford on April 14, his promoter has confirmed.
Promoter Dean Longeran confirmed he was in talks with Top Rank supremo Bob Arum about hosting the fight at New York's Madison Square Garden, with Manny Pacquiao also to be included on the card.
Lonergan said he expected the contract for the fight to be finalised in the next two weeks.
"We're heading hard towards fighting Terence Crawford. There is no contract yet but we're working towards it," Longeran said.
"It will be an absolutely massive fight night. We're really excited about what's going on. This is Jeff's chance for global glory."
At a press conference this morning, Lonergan also addressed the prospect of Horn fighting Anthony Mundine, describing it as a step backwards for the Queensland champion.
"We'll never say never, but right now it's not what we're looking at."
