PHARMACIST Jim Lyons has said farewell to his fellow staff members at LiveLife Pharmacy in Keppel Bay Plaza, opting for retirement after working in the industry for the past 50 years.
Mr Lyons said he has enjoyed a fulfilling career and would now take some time to enjoy retirement and do some of the chores at home he has not had time to do while working.
"I have enjoyed helping the public with their health needs.
It has been a very rewarding career," Mr Lyons said.
Pharmacist proprietor Bruce Elliot said Mr Lyons was well respected by customers and loved by the staff.
"He has made a wonderful contribution to the profession of pharmacy and is a true gentleman who will be sorely missed," Mr Elliot said.
"It has been a pleasure to work alongside Jim and learn from his vast experience.
"Mr Lyons began his career after qualifying at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 1963.
He went on to own and operate Barcaldine Pharmacy for 35 years before settling in Yeppoon and working at the Keppel Bay Plaza Pharmacy for the past 11 years.
With a belief in customer service and helping people Mr Lyons has gained the respect of the community for his service and dedication.
