JIU JITSU: Prominent Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor Daniel Lima will be in Rockhampton this weekend, to share his expertise.

Martial Arts instructor and owner of Unison Martial Arts Rockhampton Ferdie Galguierra said he was excited to bring the head coach of Fightclub Jiu Jitsu at the Gold Coast to Rocky and give his students the opportunity to meet one of the nation's best instructors.

"Daniel is a third degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt master and is one of Australia's most well respected and knowledgeable professors," Galguierra said.

"This will be a great chance for locals to learn world class jiu jitsu with the founder of Fight Club Jiu Jitsu Australia."

With Lima's visit already stirring up interest from clubs in Gladstone and as far as Bundaberg, Galguierra said he expected lots of students at this weekend's seminar at Unison Martial Arts headquarters. "Daniel only visits the region twice a year and this is the first time he's been to Rockhampton," Galguierra said.

"I run Unison Martial Arts, which is a full time martial arts gym on the northside. We run Muay Thai kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for all ages. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a relatively new sport to our region and it would be fantastic if it can grow to the popularity it has reached in major cities such as Brisbane and Sydney."

Also on Saturday, junior and senior students of Unison Martial Arts will be graded with Galguierra excited about one student in particular, Isaac Bianchi, who will be going for his blue belt.

"It's the first time anyone in the area will have achieved a blue belt if he gets it," he said.

"He's been going really well so I'm pretty confident that he should get it."
