Judge grants accused rapist bail
A 20-year-old Rockhampton man charged with 16 different offences, including three counts of rape, carnal knowledge of a person under 16 and torture was granted bail in the Supreme Court at Rockhampton today.
Justice Duncan McMeekin granted bail under a number of conditions, including that the man stay at his parent’s house, that they provide monetary assurance and that he not leave the house between the hours of 6pm and 8am.
The accused was arrested on November 6 and charged with raping three girls under the age of 16, two of whom he met on the social networking site Facebook.
He had been refused bail last week in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court.
The man has not yet entered a plea to the charges.
