Juniors learn valuable skills at motox development camp
MORE than 100 junior riders converged on Yeppoon at the weekend for a Junior Development Camp at Coastal Park Motox Track.
Hosted by Keppel Coast Dirt Bike Club, the two-day event was the largest of its kind to be held in Central Queensland, with 114 riders from Roma, Winton, Brisbane, Richmond and Proserpine, just to name a few. The group learnt valuable skills such as riding rough terrain, cornering, jumping, and brake and clutch control.
They also learnt why it's important to wear safety gear such as long pants and shirts, correct footwear, helmets, goggles, gloves, knee and elbow protection and neck braces.
Nutrition also played an important part, and it was explained to the young eager riders and their parents how significant a healthy diet is for maximum performance of their body and concentration. Riders of every skill level attended, from the most experienced motox and enduro riders to very new riders.
Some came from properties just needing more safety skills, while others want to become champion racers.
The weekend was a huge success.
