Ex-mayor spends first night in jail after guilty verdict

Former Fraser Coast mayor Chris Loft has been sentenced to 12 months in jail and will spend his first night behind bars tonight.

He must serve six months of this behind bars, after a jury convicted him of misconduct late on Monday.

The  trial against Loft took five days in the Hervey Bay District Court.
