Jury finds media advisor not guilty of blackmailing Flegg

A JURY on Wednesday found former LNP media adviser Graeme Hallett not guilty of threatening to release information that may have damaged the Newman government.

Mr Hallett was on trial over a charge of making demands with menaces upon agencies of government.

Mr Hallett, who was fired as media adviser to MP Bruce Flegg in November 2012, has been fighting the charge all week in the Brisbane District Court.

A jury a short time ago delivered its verdict on the case, declaring Mr Hallett not guilty.

Mr Hallett and his legal team refused to comment on the verdict.

However, Mr Hallett did say he was washing his hands of politics.

Mr Hallett was accused of threatening to release information about Dr Flegg's contact with his lobbyist son if he was not given another job by the former director of the government media unit.
