KARL Stefanovic is Australia's favourite knockabout television host, who reminds us all of that slightly smartass kid next door. But was he just a bit racist on the Today Show this morning?

Crossing between Australian and Indian fans ahead of the Cricket World Cup semi-final between Australia and India, Karl was having a laugh with both sides.

His question for the smiling Indian fans as they readied to sledge the Aussie side?

"Who's gonna be manning 7-Elevens today?"

The fans took it in stride, with one responding, "I'm not sure about who's going to be manning the 7-Eleven but you might have to look at Centrelink I think Karl."

The winner of today's semi-final at the Sydney Cricket Ground will go on to battle New Zealand at the MCG on Sunday.
